For remote workers, a café offers a change of scene, background buzz and an endless supply of coffee. But a table isn’t free office space, and good etiquette keeps everyone happy.

Be a good customer

Buy something every couple of hours and choose quieter times when the café isn’t busy with lunch customers. If the place fills up, offer your table.

Respect the space

  • Use headphones for calls and videos.
  • Don’t spread across a table for four.
  • Ask before unplugging anything to charge.
  • Tidy up when you leave.

Find a few favourite spots, get to know the staff and become a regular. Your work day will feel a lot less lonely.
